GrimmVale uses many plugins from Phoenix KageDesu’s workshop<\/a> and Patreon<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most important of Phoenix’s plugins has been the AABS system. This game relives on a real-time action battle system that can work and play well with the community lighting and all the other plugins used in the game. The AABS plugin works well with Phoenix’s AnimaX plugin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also actively use the Map Inventory plugin, which lets me display popups for treasure, and allows in-play drops to make the game environment more fun to play in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also use the Lore Library plugin, which we reworked to be text-heavy instead of image-heavy, and which we copied into two nearly identical plugins to give us both a Lore Library and a Bestiary. These library tools let players understand the animals and monsters they fight:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And reread the books they encounter in the game, and so keep track of the lore of the land:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phoenix’s excellent plugins also include the alternate equipment menu, which we modified to fit the custom skill system used in my game:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system is beautiful and powerful, giving me control of the system so players can craft items and weapons, cook food, or, at the rare alchemists centers in the game, do both!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phoenix’s crafting plugin gave me all that, and we modified it in our game so players can examine recipes while you craft items, removing the need to keep track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also use Phoenix’s alternate shop plugin:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plugin also uses our custom trade shard imagery, seen in the popup for the Bug dagger in the upper right-hand side. As you play the game, you will learn why no one uses gold as money in GrimmVale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also use his message helper to display beautiful pictures and icons in the text, and combined with our customized version of McKathlin’s message control , you can see beautiful text:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
